Er lumen location9/18/2023 ![]() ![]() Granted, for Taylor, “being herself” tends towards shimmering, gossamer perfection – but that’s an image regularly blown whenever she dons fake braces and a tri-pony to clown around on late night TV. She is awkwardly honest and powerfully empathetic a brazen superfan, loyal friend, fierce protector of hearts and one of the world’s greatest ambassadors for the power of just being yourself. Her large-scale charitable contributions are one thing, but it’s in the small gestures – the notes of compassion she posts on the Instagram photos of lovelorn fans, the genuine hugs she distributes without discretion – where Swift proves time and time again that platinum-selling, record-setting success has not changed her inherent nature. After all, it’s the intangibles that elevate Swift into the stratosphere of our pop culture planet, allowing the 24-year old singer-songwriter to orbit in a more rarified air. She’s a household name whose insanely catchy yet deeply personal self-penned songs transcend music genres, and a savvy businesswoman who has built a childhood dream into an empire.īut the numbers don’t tell Taylor's story half as well as she could. ![]() She is the only female artist in music history (and just the fourth artist ever) to twice have an album hit the 1 million first-week sales figure (2010’s Speak Now and 2012’s RED). Taylor Swift is a seven-time GRAMMY winner, and the youngest recipient in history of the music industry’s highest honor, the GRAMMY Award for Album of the Year. When you are resting, they are able to store them for later use.She is, quite simply, a global superstar. The SR can release those ions immediately. For example, when you are running around and your muscle cells are active, they need calcium (Ca) ions. It is easier to have them stored in a pack for easy use. When a cell needs to do something immediately, it doesn’t make sense to search the environment for extra ions that may or may not be floating around. It is able to store many ions in solution that the cell will need at a later time. The sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) is a variation of the SER. Cells in your body that release oils also have more SER than most cells. They are not always about building the muscle mass of a weight lifter. Steroids are a type of ringed organic molecule used for many purposes in an organism. It is important in the creation and storage of lipids and steroids. Smooth ER (SER) acts as a storage organelle. The vesicles often move to the Golgi apparatus for additional protein packaging and distribution. When enough proteins have been synthesized, they collect and are pinched off in vesicles. ![]() Protein molecules are synthesized and collected in the cisternal space/ lumen. The double membranes of smooth and rough ER form sacs called cisternae. Rough ER is called rough because it has ribosomes attached to its surface. Rough ER looks like sheets or disks of bumpy membranes while smooth ER looks more like tubes. Both rough ER and smooth ER have the same types of membranes but they have different shapes. You might look at a cell from the pancreas or liver for good examples of cells with large ER structures. Cells that synthesize and release a lot of proteins would need a large amount of ER. For example, some cells, such as prokaryotes or red blood cells, do not have an ER of any kind. The membranes are slightly different from cell to cell and a cell’s function determines the size and structure of the ER. Structurally, the endoplasmic reticulum is a network of membranes found throughout the cell and connected to the nucleus. ![]() It works closely with the Golgi apparatus, ribososmes, mRNA, and tRNA. While the function of the nucleus is to act as the cell brain, the ER functions as a manufacturing and packaging system. Another organelle in the cell is the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). ![]()
